2月21日，自然科学本館正面アカデミックホールにて，ユネスコ「国際母語の日」の記念行事が開催されました。
本記念行事は，人々にとっての母語の大切さを再認識し，平和や言語文化的多様性を讃えることを目的に，国際母語の日を祝う記念行事として，バングラデシュ人留学生ら有志により本学で初めて開催されたものです。
会場には，言語の強要に対する抵抗運動の中で亡くなった学生らを追悼するモニュメントがバングラデシュ人留学生たちによって再現され，追悼の歌と花が捧げられました。また，国際母語の日の意義やバングラデシュの歴史について，本学学生および外国人留学生，教職員の理解を深める目的で，短編ビデオの映写やリーフレットの配布も行われました。
On February 21, UNESCO “International Mother Language Day” was celebrated in NST Academic Hall.
February 21st is “International Mother Language Day” proclaimed by UNESCO. It originated in Bengali language rights movement against Pakistan government in Dhaka on February 21st, 1952. To promote awareness of mother language and respect for linguistic and cultural diversity, an event to celebrate the International Mother Language Day took place in Kanazawa University for the first time.
The monument to students who died in resistance exercise was reproduced by Bangladeshi students in NST Academic Hall and a song and flowers were offered. There were the projection of a short movie and distribution of a leaflet for students and staff from Japan or other countries to know the history and significance of the day.
