On July 9, the Health Service Center, Kanazawa University held the student support program (*) “Heartfelt Summer Concert” at the Grand Hall of the University Hall located in the North Area of the Kakuma Campus. Approximately 40 participants, including students, international students, faculty, and staff members, attended the event.

The student support program organizes concerts about twice a year during lunchtime, offering participants a relaxing time to heal their minds and bodies through live classical music. This time, an ensemble performance was given by Emeritus Professor Hiroaki Yoshikawa (research collaborator at the Health Service Center) on flute and Ms. Yukari Yamada, a pianist active in Kanazawa. The program included “Meditation from Thaïs” (Jules Massenet), “Menuet Antique” (Maurice Ravel), and “Suite for Flute and Piano” (Charles-Marie Widor).

Students who attended the concert shared impressions such as: “It was my first time hearing live music, and I felt the sincerity in the performers’ posture and expressions. Their coolness really moved me.” “Listening to the music made peaceful summer scenes come to mind, and I had a truly wonderful time.” “People of various ages, nationalities, and academic programs gathered to listen, and the venue was filled with a calm and gentle atmosphere.” “Very beautiful! I want to see it more often.” Faculty and staff also commented: “It was refreshing to hear flute and piano performed right in front of me for the first time.” “Having explanations for each piece made the listening experience richer, and it was a lovely time.” The event received highly positive feedback.
