On July 21, Ms. Asako Okai, Ambassador of Japan to the Kingdom of Bahrain, who was visiting the Hokuriku region, visited Kanazawa University and paid a courtesy call on president Takashi Wada.
The Institute for Ancient Civilizations and Cultural Resources, Kanazawa University concluded a memorandum of understanding in April 2023 with the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities and the Tokyo National Research Institute for Cultural Properties, National Institutes for Cultural Heritage, regarding the establishment of the Bahrain Archaeology and Cultural Heritage Center.4
Attending the courtesy visit were executive director Kaname Miura, director of the Institute for Ancient Civilizations and Cultural Resources, and professor Takuro Adachi, deputy director of the institute, along with other related members. They exchanged views on future educational and research collaboration between Kanazawa University and the Kingdom of Bahrain.
After the meeting, Ambassador Okai visited the Kanazawa University Museum and viewed the restored fresco wall paintings from the Church of Santa Croce, Italy, displayed in Lecture Building 2 of the School of Humanities.
