The students are scheduled to participate in an overseas study program at the University at Buffalo, The State University of New York, located in Buffalo, a sister city of Kanazawa, in August 2026. During the visit, they expressed their enthusiasm for the program and shared their goals and aspirations with Mayor Murayama before their departure.

The students will participate in an exchange program under the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) initiative, “Inter-University Exchange Project” titled “Multi-Layered Educational Programs between Japan and the U.S. for Revolutionary New Global Human Resources.”(*) As part of this program, the students will undertake academic training at Kanazawa University's partner institution, the University at Buffalo.

This program combines two educational tracks, “Urban Planning” and “Medical Clinical COIL,” providing students with opportunities to engage in activities related to urban planning and medicine. In addition to academic learning, participants will interact with local students and explore the city and surrounding region to deepen their understanding of American society and culture.

Kanazawa University remains committed to strengthening reciprocal international exchange and educational opportunities.
