On June 20 and 21, the 82nd Student Meijin Tournament, which determines the top university shogi player in Japan, was held in Saitama City (hosted by the All‑Japan Student Shogi Federation). Two members of the Kanazawa University Shogi Club achieved outstanding results, placing runner‑up and third place, respectively. This marks the first time since the club’s initial award in FY2016 that multiple Kanazawa University students have placed in the tournament—an impressive accomplishment.

Runner‑up: Yuto Yanai (2nd year, School of Mathematics and Physics, College of Science and Engineering)
Third Place: Shunta Ebisawa (4th year, School of Economics, College of Human and Social Sciences)
