Fourteen researchers from Kanazawa University have been selected for the 2026 TeSH GAP Fund Program

In the FY2026 TeSH (*1) GAP Fund Program (*2), which targets faculty members and graduate students aiming to launch startups, a total of 14 faculty members from the Kanazawa University were selected: 12 for “Step 1” and 2 for “Step 2.” In "Step 1," the goal is to conduct applied research (from designing application hypotheses to just before the proof-of-concept phase) over a one-year period, while in "Step 2," the goal is to progress from proof-of-concept to startup formation over a maximum of three years.

In addition, a new “Social Impact” category was introduced this year, and four of the 12 recipients selected for “Step 1” were chosen in this category.Projects in this category are selected from fields such as regional development (including tourism and transportation), disaster resilience, the environment, the arts, education, and the social sciences, with the aim of addressing regional and social challenges. Successful applicants will receive up to 2 million yen in funding.

*1  TeSH (pronounced "Tesh," short for Tech Startup HOKURIKU)
Tech Startup HOKURIKU is a startup creation platform for the Hokuriku region, with Japan Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (JAIST) and Kanazawa University serving as the lead organizations and 14 universities and 3 technical colleges across the three prefectures of the Hokuriku region as partner institutions.By significantly enhancing the quality and quantity of startups originating from universities and technical colleges in the Hokuriku region, and by fostering Hokuriku-based listed companies and new industries that expand globally, we aim to revitalize the region. Furthermore, by creating new demand for talent and driving capital investment, we will contribute to solving social issues in the Hokuriku region.
