Continuing from last year, students of the Work Group “Clean Studio” in the Senior Division of the Affiliated School for Special Needs Education carried out environmental beautification activities in the Heiwa-machi area on May 19 and May 26.

As part of their vocational learning program, the students conducted tree pruning along the roadside next to the Affiliated Elementary School playground, just as they did last year. Branches along this outer road can obstruct cars and pedestrians when they grow too long. With an awareness of helping ensure smooth passage for local residents, the students carefully pruned the trees and collected branches with great attention to detail.
After the work was completed, staff members of the affiliated schools expressed their appreciation to the students for their sincere efforts.

At the Affiliated School for Special Needs Education, vocational learning includes not only environmental beautification across the university’s campuses and surrounding areas, but also cookie production and sales, café operation, and contracted tasks from companies. Through these activities, students gain practical and experiential learning opportunities to consider what they can contribute to society as they work toward independence and social participation.

This initiative is scheduled to be conducted again later this academic year.
