On April 23, a briefing session on the Japan Foundation’s “NIHONGO Partners Program” was held on the Kakuma Campus of Kanazawa University.

The NIHONGO Partners Program is an initiative implemented by the Japan Foundation that dispatches individuals to junior high and high schools in Asia to serve as partners to Japanese-language teachers and students, assisting with classes and introducing Japanese culture.

This was the first time Kanazawa University held such a session as part of its efforts to promote student overseas dispatch, with the aim of creating social impact through the internationalization of the university.

During the session, Ms. Rikako Arakaki from the NIHONGO Partners Program Department of the Japan Foundation provided an overview of the program and explained the activities conducted at host institutions. Participating students asked a wide range of questions—including application procedures, daily life abroad, and career paths—leading to a lively Q&A session.

Kanazawa University and the Japan Foundation concluded an “Agreement on the Recommendation Program for Teaching-Oriented Students” in March 2025. Under this agreement, in addition to the general application category, students aspiring to become teachers may apply to the program with a university recommendation.

The International Student Exchange Division of the International Relations Department provides individual consultations regarding overseas dispatch programs, including this initiative, and disseminates information on various study-abroad opportunities to support students’ international experiences.
