On March 19, a safety prayer ceremony for the construction of the new Usui Hall was held in the Central Area of Kanazawa University’s Kakuma Campus (west side of Natural Science Building No. 5).

Usui Hall is being constructed with a generous donation from the late Mr. Itsuru Usui, an alumnus of Kanazawa University (graduated from the School of Medicine in 1964; former Chair of Meitokukai Medical Corporation). The hall will be used for various award ceremonies, lectures, and events, including the Kanazawa University International Award, which honors researchers who have achieved internationally distinguished accomplishments in fields such as philosophy, thought, and religion.

The ceremony was attended by 23 participants, including President Takashi Wada and Mr. Takeshi Usui, Chair of Meitokukai Medical Corporation. The ritual was conducted in a solemn atmosphere, and attendees offered their prayers quietly.

The facility will be a single-story steel-framed building with a total floor area of 500 m² and an auditorium seating approximately 250 people. Completion is scheduled for the end of January 2027, with the facility expected to open in spring 2027.
