On January 29, Institute for Promotion of Diversity and Inclusion invited Ms. Yukiko Nakagawa Professor of the Graduate School of Management, Aoyama Gakuin University, to conduct a seminar titled "Cross-border careers (tri-sector leadership) Diversity = the power to connect different worlds". The seminar was attended by about 25 students, faculty, and staff from Kanazawa University.

The seminar began with an address by Takashi Wada President stating that "diversity is essential for universities to create new values", followed by a lecture by Professor Nakagawa.

Professor Nakagawa introduced his career, which crosses the three domains of research, business, and social contribution, including 28 years of experience in the human resources department of a corporation, activities as an outside director of a listed company, and the establishment of an animal protection NPO, "Shippo no Yakusoku". He also emphasized that intrapersonal diversity enhances resilience and leads to career rarity and uniqueness in the age of AI, and that "crossing borders" between different domains creates new value creation.

In the latter half of the session, "ZATSUDAN NO CHIKARA," a variety of topics were discussed through dialogue between the participants and Professor Nakagawa, including the significance of studying abroad, cross-cultural understanding, the reality of MBA programs for finance ministry officials in developing countries, religious and cultural diversity, and experiences as an intern abroad. The interactive and lively exchange was interspersed with Professor Nakagawa responding to the students' sharing of their overseas experiences and values with specific episodes. Professor Nakagawa spoke carefully about the importance of being exposed to different values at a young age and of stepping out into the outside world rather than maintaining the status quo, based on her own experiences.

Institute for Promotion of Diversity and Inclusion will continue to hold events to deepen understanding of diversity on campus and to promote interaction and collaboration.
