On January 22, "KEYPAT"(*1), a support team of Kanazawa University for mental health care, held a program titled "Stress Management: Winter Relaxation" at Natural Science and Technology Library G1 Open Studio, where members of "KEYPAT" gave a lecture and practiced relaxation. 11 students from Kanazawa University and faculty members participated in the program.

The participants learned that the winter season is a season of reduced daylight hours, cold, and dry air, which can easily stress the body and mind, and that winter depression can develop due to seasonal changes, as well as the importance of performing relaxation techniques and getting good sleep as self-care during the winter season. Progressive Muscle Relaxation (PMR), which we practiced this time, is widely used in post-disaster mental health care. Using reference videos, the participants experienced the practice of PMR so that they can continue their own self-care in the future.

A participant commented, "Personally, I thought the level of difficulty was low and easy to work on. I felt it was similar to the feeling I get after doing a little muscle training, which is good because I can do it even when I'm tired." "I'm going to try it tonight. I have busy days, but I think I can do it by making it a little easier, reducing the number of times, etc." "It was good that I could relax. I want to tell my friends and family about it." " It actually made me sleepy." " It was very relaxing. Thank you very much." These are some of the comments we received.

(*1) "KEYPAT" is an abbreviation of the Kanazawa Educational Yell Psychological Assistance Team.
The team consists mainly of certified psychologists.
