On December 19, the winning teams for the Kanazawa University contest 8th Annual Japanese Mathematics A-lympiad were selected.

The Japan Mathematics A-lympiad is a Kanazawa University contest in which teams of outstanding high school students from across Japan, equipped with exceptional skills in mathematics and English, tackle global challenges that could arise in real-world contexts. The problems are provided by the international Mathematics A-day.

This year's competition attracted 85 teams and 318 participants from 29 high schools and other institutions across Japan, making it the second largest number of teams ever. After a strict screening process, 10 teams were selected to receive awards.

The team winning the Grand Prize will be sent to the international Mathematics A-day competition to be held in the Netherlands in mid-March 2026 as the Japanese representative. All winners of the best prize and above will be eligible to apply for the chozen special entrance examination (A-lympiad selection).

The award ceremony for the 8th Japan Mathematics A-lympiad is scheduled to be held in late March of 2026.
