On November 12, the third Presidents' Coordination Council meeting for the "Next-Generation Cancer Professional Training Plan (Next-Generation Hokushin Cancer Professionals)" for 2025 fiscal year was held. This initiative focuses on training professionals to provide seamless cancer care in the Hokushin region.

The "Next-Generation Hokushin Cancer Professionals" initiative involves six universities—Shinshu University, Toyama University, University of Fukui, Kanazawa Medical University, Nagano Prefectural College of Nursing, and University of Kanazawa—collaborating across the four prefectures of the Hokushin region. The program aims to train healthcare professionals who can provide high-quality, seamless cancer care across various stages, from diagnosis and treatment to end-of-life care, through multi-facility and multi-disciplinary collaboration.

At this Presidents' Coordination Council meeting, President Wada of Kanazawa University, the representative institution, moderated the meeting. The presidents of Shinshu University, Toyama University, University of Fukui, Kanazawa Medical University, and Nagano Prefectural College of Nursing reported on the progress of this year's initiatives. Additionally, the final preparations were made for the joint public lecture on "Next-Generation Cancer Professionals," which is scheduled to be held on November 30 in Kanazawa City, Ishikawa Prefecture.

A public lecture on "Next-Generation Cancer Professionals," hosted by our university, is scheduled to take place on March 1 next year. Going forward, the Next-Generation Hokushin Cancer Professionals program will continue to implement team-based healthcare through multi-facility and multi-disciplinary collaboration, working towards the realization of a healthcare system where all cancer patients and their families can receive comprehensive care with peace of mind in their local communities, and establishing a model for this approach.
