Officials from the Meeting of Heads of Research Councils of Asia visited Kanazawa University

On November 4, officials from the Meeting of Heads of Research Councils of Asia (*) visited Kanazawa University and toured MIRAICHI Research Center and Nano Life Science Institute.

The group first visited MIRAICHI Research Center and received an overview of the university from President Takashi Wada. Afterward, they toured the center while receiving explanations from the staff about the concept of the MIRAICHI Research Center, its initiatives for creating startups, and specific examples of these efforts.

Next, the group visited the Nano Life Science Institute, where they received an explanation about the institute’s research activities and its efforts to establish an international hub, followed by an exchange of opinions. During the subsequent lab tour, they observed the operation of a Scanning Probe Microscope (SPM), which enables the observation of biological samples at the nanoscale.

* Meeting of Heads of Research Councils of Asia (A-HORCs)
This meeting is organized by the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS), the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), and the National Research Foundation of Korea (NRF). Its purpose is to strengthen academic collaboration among the three countries through discussions on trends in each nation’s science and technology policies and approaches to international cooperation.
