日本では3月11日に東北地方を中心に大きな地震と津波が発生し，多くの方々が亡くなり，また，多くの方々が避難生活をされています。また，原子力発電所の事故も深刻です。一刻も早い復興をお祈りするばかりです。こうした状況を救おうと，世界各国から日本に対していろいろな支援を頂戴しましたことは，大変にありがたいことで感謝申し上げます。
金沢は震災の地から約600km離れた遠い地にあり，被害はありませんでした。また，福島第一原発事故による放射線の影響も出ておりません。
金沢大学では，4月新学期を予定どおり開始します。どうぞ安全な就学環境で安心して学んでください。

In Japan, there was a great earthquake and tsunami in the Tohoku district on March 11, which killed a large number of people and forced the residents to evacuate. We still have a serious nuclear power plant crisis. We truly hope its early recovery from those disasters. In the meantime, many countries around the world have offered a various kind of support to Japan. We would like to express our deepest gratitude to the world.
Kanazawa is located approximately 600km from the suffered areas and has been unaffected. It is also immune from the radiation leakage accident of the Fukushima No.1 Nuclear Power Station.
Kanazawa University begins a new academic year in April as scheduled. Please feel secure and study in the safe academic environment.
