Event Details
Kanazawa University’s Biomass and Green Innovation Center (BGIC) and Daicel Corporation will hold the third “Symposium Linking “Kyo”. This symposium has so far featured lectures on topics such as biomass utilization, biomass product development, and clean energy under the theme “Curiosity in Kanazawa.”
This time, members of Ujiji Kireidan, invited from Okinoerabu Island, will give a lecture titled “How Continuing a Beach Cleanup as Summer Vacation Homework Led to an Invitation to an International Conference.” Ujiji Kireidan has continued family-based beach cleanup activities at Ujiji Beach on Okinoerabu Island since 2017. With the goal of “protecting marine life and enjoying the rich ocean,” the group practices sustainable living by viewing nature and society through scientific and ethical perspectives. In this lecture, through examples such as microplastics, marine debris art, sustainable tourism, and presentations at an international conference organized by UNESCO, the speakers will convey that children can also participate in community building, that activities on a small island can reach the world, and that there are “important things” that cannot be expressed solely through numbers or efficiency.
We warmly invite you to join us.
