Event Details
Public reading event will be held as a related event to the exhibition “Noto, Writers, and Works” currently being held at Kanazawa University Library (Central Library).
The recitation piece "Yagami, or Agami Ungami" is set in Noto, Ishikawa. It tells the story of a man who, having stumbled in life, begins to rebuild himself through his interactions with those around him.
Reflecting the spiritual richness of Noto, a region known for its many deities and diverse rituals, the story portrays the man’s new beginning intertwined with a particular Shinto ceremony, the warmth of the local people, and the unique cultural atmosphere of the area. The narrative also conveys the heartfelt perspective of Masashi Sada, a renowned artist with deep ties to Ishikawa, highlighting his affection for the region.
We will deliver this work, which depicts the "rebirth of life," to the people of Ishikawa so that it may contribute to the restoration of Noto.
The recitation will be performed by Hiroaki Nishimoto, a graduate of Kanazawa University. We warmly invite you to attend.
