Takara-machi Tsuruma New Campus (tentative name) development plan

~A Well-Being Campus Realizing Health of Mind, Body, and Environment~

Kanazawa University as "a research university dedicated to education, while opening up its doors to both local and global society", is working daily to strengthen its function as a world-class research center.

Kanazawa University , guided by its commitment to contributing to society through Future-oriented Intelligence, and as a comprehensive university with empirical research capabilities, has long requested that Kanazawa City transfer the former site of the Kanazawa College of Art to the University in order to promote the rich and sustainable development of the local community.
Based on this background, the University has formulated the “Basic Plan for the Development of the Takara-machi–Tsuruma New Campus (tentative name),” guided by the concept of a “well-being campus that realizes mental, physical, and environmental health.” The plan aims to create a new community that integrates medicine, research, local communities, and the environment.

The plan outlines that the campus will serve the following functions: academic research, industry–academia collaboration, and community partnerships; lifestyle and childcare support; and spaces for relaxation and interaction.Under this plan, the University adopts as its fundamental policy the establishment of a world-class research hub that can explore and overcome future challenges, with healthcare at its core, by linking regional and global perspectives. Based on this policy, the plan aims to develop a forward-looking urban model equipped with the following features.

(1) An environment where advanced medical care centered on the University Hospital is provided, alongside “comprehensive knowledge” integrating medicine, health sciences, and pharmaceutical sciences
(2) An environment where students, faculty, staff, and local residents can live comfortably together
(3) An environment where people and nature coexist in harmony

With the new campus at its core, the University will collaborate with local governments and community residents to realize “new community development” that envisions a prosperous and sustainable future, supporting the healthy growth of children and a society characterized by longevity and good health.
