Japan-ASEAN Training Course toward SDGs

On October 11 – 15, the Organization of Global Affairs, Kanazawa University held “Japan-ASEAN Training Course”, cohosted by AUN (ASEAN University Network) and SUN/SixERS.

55 students from AUN member universities and 17 from SixERS member universities (Chiba, Niigata, Kanazawa, Okayama, Nagasaki and Kumamoto) participated in the course, and learned about biodiversity, nature conservation and sustainable development from UNESCO designated Biosphere Reserves under coordination by Associate Professor Mammadova Aida.

On the last day of the course, Dr. Choltis Dhirathit, Executive Director of the AUN delivered encouraging message for the students who took in a new challenge of online learning and learned so many things.

In the five-day training course, students broke into groups and had lively discussions about various SDGs goals. They learned about the harmony and symbiosis between nature and regional development from the philosophy and efforts of Japan’s four UNESCO Biosphere Reserves.
