Kanazawa University Russian Week 2021 Successfully Completed

“KANAZAWA RUSSIAN WEEK 2021”was held from September 29 to October 1, 2021 as a special event of Inter-University Project, Russia-Japan Innovative Leaders of Tomorrow. In the event, three student exchange programs (cultural exchange, basic & advanced science and technology, preventive medicine) organized its own symposium to deepen exchanges with partner universities in Russia.

At DAY 1, the event started with opening remarks from President Yamazaki Koetsu of Kanazawa University and Rector Gafurov Ilshat of Kazan Federal University, following supporting message from Ms. Satomi Tomoka, Deputy Director General, MEXT and Mr. Mori Yoshiro, the 85th and 86th Prime Minister of Japan and Honorary Doctor of Kanazawa University.

After the remarks, we reported our exchange programs that we have been conducted since 2017 and Mr. Odinetz Sergey, Director of the Irkutsk Japan Information Centre gave a keynote speech entitled "Russia's Sustainable Lifestyle Dacha". Following to it, activities from regional initiatives was presented and students also shared their information though the exchange program.

After all those public programs, the first general conference of Kanazawa University Russian Alumni Association was also held with members.

At DAY2, a symposium of Preventive Medicine Program was organized by Kanazawa University, Kazan Federal University, Krasnoyarsk State Medical University and Pavlov First St.Petersburg State Medical University. At the beginning of this symposium, we also shared progress of the branch offices of "Japan-Russia Medical Research and Education Center", which is currently being prepared to open, followed by series of students' presentations. 

At DAY3, the Basic Science and Advanced Science and Technology Program hosted each symposium in four groups – Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Environmental Studies. In each online symposium they conducted research and student exchanges with Russian universities with which they have close ties for long years.

Ahead of the symposium we had another highlighted event that the signing ceremony of Kanazawa University Irkutsk Liaison Office was held and an agreement was concluded thanks to the cooperation of Irkutsk State University.
