On May 10, 2011, Kanazawa University signed the statement of affiliation with National Taiwan University. The signing ceremony took place at National Taiwan University in Taipei, Taiwan, and from our university, President Shin-ichi Nakamura, Vice President Isamu Nagano (in charge of Research and International Affairs), and Professor Kenji Kashiwaya of the Institute of Nature and Environmental Technology attended. With the statement and memorandum concluded, we can expect further promotion of cooperation and exchange between our university and National Taiwan University in fields of education and research.
Also, on May 8 in Tainan-City, President Nakamura attended the opening ceremony of a memorial park dedicated to the works of Yoichi Hatta, a Japanese engineer and a graduate of the Fourth Higher School (predecessor of Kanazawa University), who devoted himself to the construction of Taiwan’s water reservoir systems.
