Professor Charles Inouye of Tufts University Visits Kanazawa University

On July 23, Professor Charles Inouye from the Department of German, Russian and Asian Languages and Literatures of Tufts University in the United States visited Kanazawa University and gave a special lecture for approximately 80 students, faculty and staff. Professor Inouye lectured on “Neo-Animism: The Meaning of Life in the Posthuman Era,” and the audience gained a deeper understanding of the relationship between the postmodern society and spirituality.

After the lecture, Professor Inouye and Ms. Sonoko Shimoie, Tufts University Resident Director, paid a courtesy visit to President Yamazaki. At the meeting, the President handed the official certificates of appreciation to Professor Inouye and Ms. Shimoie for their many years of contributions to the exchanges. Afterward, there was a discussion about promoting further student and research exchanges between the two universities. The meeting was a meaningful opportunity for both parties.
