On November 26th, the 11th Kanazawa University (KU) International Homecoming Day took place online. This event, which has been held online since 2020, was attended by around 100 participants, including international alumni and current international students both from Japan and abroad.

The first session featured a video message by President WADA Takashi, which was recorded using the Metaverse, followed by two keynote speeches by Dr. Do Ngoc Son and Dr. Acep Purqon, who are our successful alumni and the presidents of KU Alumni Associations in Vietnam and Indonesia, respectively. Dr. Do Ngoc Son gave speeches about the relationship between Vietnam and Japan, the activities and visions of KU alumni in Vietnam, how what they learned from Kanazawa University shaped their career, etc. Dr. Acep Purqon gave speeches about the Logo of Indonesian Alumni Association, the Indonesian Alumni Meeting in October 2022, the G20 Summit in Indonesia in November 2022 with the theme “Recover Together, Recover Stronger”, the background and advantages in Indonesia, student exchange activities, etc.

The second session consisted of individual “alumni rooms” for KU international alumni associations and student associations. This year, current students from Vietnam, Thailand, China, Indonesia, and Bangladesh organized each room by inviting their OBs and OGs, deepening exchanges among students and alumni from the same country.
