University Hospital

Dating back to 1862, Kanazawa University Hospital is the third oldest university hospital in Japan. In 2001, the University Hospital and the Cancer Research Institute Hospital merged. There are currently a total of 832 beds available, and the average number of outpatients per day exceeds 1,600. Thus, the hospital is one of the largest university hospitals in the country.

One of the aims of the University Hospital is to win the fight against cancer, and we are dedicated to sharing our breakthroughs in cancer treatment research that have been achieved over many years of diligent work at the Research Institute in conjunction with global research efforts.

We are currently striving to develop cures for terminally ill patients, and have made great strides through our molecular biology and genetic research towards curing many diseases.

Numerous academic prizes have been awarded for the outstanding work done at the University Hospital. Many of the medical staff, who engage in medical research and treatment here, have gone on to be appointed as professors both at our university and many others. Our hospital provides high-level clinical training, and for approximately 100 years it has contributed to the Hokuriku region by supplying it with highly qualified and skilled doctors.
