This year, Kanazawa University celebrates its 150th foundation anniversary. On November 10 of this memorial year, the “International Student Homecoming Day” was held for the first time along with the Sixth Homecoming Day.

The purpose of the International Student Homecoming Day is to deepen the interaction with international students, as well as to introduce the present state of Kanazawa University and renew old friendships. Also, the event aims to provide the opportunity to set up alumni associations overseas through which the international alumni can continue to stay in touch.

At the first-time event, a symposium was held by the alumni, faculty, and international students, and approximately 110 persons attended from within and outside the university.

Our alumni, Assoc. Prof. Thirapong Pipatpongsa of Tokyo Institute of Technology, gave a keynote lecture, and there were erhu and guitar performances by our alumni, and mini-lectures.

Many alumni and international students enjoyed reunion with familiar faces, and the Homecoming Day closed with a promise of another meeting next year.
